EL IMPARCIAL
Mexico City, November 1st
The Goverment has announced the purchase of a number of Russian planes. The Armada de Mexico (Navy) has purchase 22 advanced Sukhoi Su-33M carrier capable fighters. These will provide a much needed upgrade over the current Vought A-7 Corsairs. Meanwhile the Fuerza Aerea Mexicana (Air Force) has purchase an undisclosed number of Antonov An-70 heavy transports, and some more Mil Mi-26 heavy lift helicopters. However the rumored deal for Kamov Ka-50 Hokum helicopters did not go through. The FAM is expected instead to buy the cheaper Bell MH-1W 'Whisky' Cobras.
As expected the People's Union of Central American countries, had its own stament to make. In the words of Premier Obrador: "The Imperialist dogs once again show their true face! Why do they need advanced fighters for? To trample into the dust the workers of the world! Yes they intend to attack us but we shall triumph!". The Goverment has not at this time made a reply. However it is common knowledge that the PUCA is at the moment negotiating an estimated $400 million dollar deal with China for combat aircraft.
